We build growing hardware to furniture standards

Verdara was founded in 2021 by a furniture designer and a plant physiologist, with studios in Shanghai and Copenhagen.

Keep growing indoors

The first question was narrow: why do supermarket herbs die within three weeks? We took apart twenty growing kits and kept finding the same structural faults — a reservoir too shallow, light too close to the leaf, substrate compacted within two months.

So we worked backwards: define the light and root volume a plant needs, then ask joinery and hardware to fit it. The first prototype ran for fourteen months on a kitchen worktop through the winter of 2021, with two substrate changes.

Today Verdara systems are in 12,400 homes, 46 restaurant kitchens and 120 classrooms. We still design our own structural parts, still test every light recipe ourselves, and still do one thing: make indoor growing require no special talent.

Four commitments

01

Traceable material

FSC-certified ash, food-grade hard wax oil, no lacquer sealing.

02

Repairable structure

Light bars, pumps and hardware sold separately, replaceable for ten years.

03

Verified recipes

Each light recipe runs a full season in our own grow cabin before release.

04

Honest scope

If a space does not suit the system, we say so rather than overselling modules.

In the studio

Structural parts are prototyped in our own workshop; light recipes are measured in the grow cabin. We do not ship concept renders — only units that have grown for two years.
